Introduction
Gentamicin sulfate is a glycoside antibacterial antibiotic that is linked by amino sugars and ligands. It is a sulfate of gentamicin and has a antibacterial spectrum similar to that of kanamycin. It is mainly used for systemic or local infections caused by gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli, dysentery bacillus, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, etc. Ophthalmology is used for conjunctivitis, keratitis, etc. Oral administration can be used for preparing for intestinal infections or colon surgery; It can also be combined with metronidazole or clindamycin to reduce the infection rate of colon surgery. It has good antibacterial effect on about 80% of methicillin sensitive strains in Staphylococcus (including Staphylococcus aureus and coagulase negative staphylococcus), but most of methicillin resistant strains are resistant to gentamicin sulfate. It has poor effect on Streptococcus and Streptococcus pneumoniae, while Enterococcus is mostly resistant to this product.
